Avery Library is pleased to announce that a new exhibition, Landscape(d), with eleven paintings from the Art Properties collection, is now on view in the Judith Lee Stronach Center, Department of Art History and Archaeology, Schermerhorn Hall. This exhibition is the eighth iteration organized by students in the MA in Art History program, under the guidance and instruction of Dr. Frédérique Baumgartner (Director of the MA program) and Dr. Roberto C. Ferrari (Curator of Art Properties). The students conducted new research on the selection of paintings and organized a curatorial framework in which to display the art.

Landscape(d) focuses on the ways in which humans have been inspired by nature to create art and have simultaneously altered nature to suit their needs. The exhibition is on view from October 8, 2024 to January 10, 2025 and is open to all Columbia affiliates with an ID. For non-affiliates who wish to make an appointment to see the exhibition, contact Dr. Baumgartner at fb214@columbia.edu. An online exhibition, with high-resolution images produced by Avery Library, along with catalog essays and label text written by the students, is available by going to https://projects.mcah.columbia.edu/ma/2024.
