We are pleased to announce Shelley Hayreh as the new Curator of Drawings & Archives. Shelley joined the Avery Architectural & Fine Arts Library at Columbia University in 2010, serving as the Archivist & Collection Manager in the Department of Drawings & Archives. In this role, she was responsible for overseeing the physical and intellectual management of the archives, which encompass over two million drawings, photographs, letters, and manuscripts related to architecture. During her time at Avery, Shelley has been a key organizer and principal cataloger of the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation Archives, jointly acquired by Avery Library and the Museum of Modern Art in 2012. Additionally, she has been responsible for hiring, training, and supervising doctoral graduate processing interns for the department.
Shelley graduated from University of Michigan’s School of Information in 2010. While pursuing her graduate studies, she worked as a graduate student processor for the Michigan Historical Collections at the Bentley Historical Library where she processed many Detroit-based architectural collections. One of her earliest exposures to architectural drawings came from engaging with and learning from the Albert Kahn archives at the Bentley Library.
Please join me in congratulating Shelley on her much-deserved new position.
