The Columbia Image Bank is now available as a collection within the ARTstor digital image library. Columbia students, faculty, and staff can search the Image Bank as a separate collection, or alongside all ARTstor content.
The Image Bank includes over 65,000 images in a broad range of subjects, cultures, and periods, including photographs, drawings, renderings of architecture and sites, and stills of performance pieces.
To search the Columbia Image Bank, click "Go" to enter the ARTstor digital library. Then click "Columbia University Image Bank" under "Institutional Collections" at the bottom of the page. For your reference, you may consult the Permitted & Prohibited Uses at ARTstor.

This is a wonderful addition…but what can we do about getting VIDEO images available now that we’re in the multimedia world?

Thank you for your question! We do have a number of resources for video clips. If you go to the Libraries’ Databases page and then select “Videos & Webcasts” under “by type,” a list of databases with video will be displayed and linked for your convenience.
You can also find that same list by going to this link:

Is it possible to publish these photos with Columbia-based projects, like with the AP collection?
Great question! You are permitted to download and use these images for your coursework. The terms of use are slightly different, though, so let me refer you to the resource’s Permitted Uses page http://www.artstor.org/our-organization/o-html/permitted-uses.shtml for more information. If you have any questions, please send email to journalism@libraries.cul.columbia.edu.
