Drop in for a 15-minute introductory session about how to use your libraries: learn about the Libraries’ collections, expert staff, study spaces, trainings and workshops, and more. Stop by Butler Library on August 28 or September 2-4 for sessions that begin every hour from 11 a.m. through 4 p.m.

Can’t make it to a session in person? Explore these five ways to get started at the Libraries on your own time:
CLIO, which stands for Columbia Library Information Online, is our online catalog. This is where you can search for the materials you need for coursework or research. Columbians have access to millions of items this way. We also have unique search portals for other collections like archives and digitized materials.
We have dozens of librarians and subject experts who specialize in fields of study, from areas of the world and the humanities to data and publishing. Find a subject expert best suited to meet your research needs, or ask a general question via our Ask a Librarian service.
Learn how to use the research tools that we provide, like CLIO, specialty software, archives, and more, through dedicated workshops on these topics.
Explore your libraries in a self-paced way using the Library Passport as your guide. Pick up a blank passport at any library service or circulation desk, then explore our spaces at your own pace.
The quickest way to browse the full selection of resources that we offer is to scroll through the A-Z Services and Tools index on our website. If you can’t find what you’re looking for, please ask. We’re here to help!
