Announcing the Fall 2025 Ask A Librarian Interns

The Ask A Librarian Internship Program is excited to welcome the Fall 2025 cohort to Columbia University Libraries. The Ask A Librarian Internship provides Library and Information Science students with paid, hands-on experience in academic librarianship. Interns receive training and support from a librarian supervisor at Columbia in order to assist users through the Ask A Librarian chat service. Additionally, interns work in collaboration with their supervisor to conduct a project. Please join us in welcoming Christine, Jaimie, and Lily!

Christine Thuy Minh Nguyen

Christine Thuy Minh Nguyen (she/her) earned her BA in Japanese and linguistics from San José State University and is now working towards completing her MS in library and information science at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, specializing in digital archives and data stewardship. This fall, Christine joins Columbia University Libraries as an Ask a Librarian intern, where she looks forward to developing her skills in virtual reference and connecting patrons with the resources they need. She also serves as a Graduate Assistant in the Research Data Service unit of the University of Illinois Library. Outside of her studies, she enjoys reading comics, attending live music events, and collecting different teas and fragrances.

Jaimie Lopez

Jaimie Lopez: Hello! My name is Jaimie (she/her) and I am excited to work as an intern on the Research Data Services team. I work in circulation at the University of Michigan Library system and am an MLIS student at Wayne State University. I also provide virtual reference services (Ask a Librarian chat) at the University of Michigan Library. Earlier this year, I had the opportunity to present at the Wayne State Beyond Barriers conference on piracy libraries as models for accessibility and user-driven information practices alongside their use as training materials for Large Language Models. Alongside my current work this semester as an Ask a Librarian intern, I am also participating in the 2025 Expanding Services Together cohort at the San Francisco Public Library to develop skills in providing library services for people who are currently incarcerated, formerly incarcerated, and in the process of re-entry. I am interested in patron-forward practices that center access and action in academic library spaces. I like to knit, crochet, make zines, write letters, read, journal, and dance. I am an avid sticker collector and my recreational goal this semester is to make more comics and drawings.

Lily Sellei

Lily Sellei (she/her) is a second year student at New York University in the MA in Archives and Public History program and a second year student at Long Island University in the MSLIS program, with a focus on rare books and special collections. She graduated from a dual degree program between SciencesPo, campus de Reims, and Columbia University in 2023, with majors in politics and government and history (ancient Mediterranean). Within the library and information science field, she is interested in book and writing history, ethics, and accessibility. When she is not working or in class, she can be found reading fantasy novels or dog-watching in any of NYC’s parks.
